Foreign affairs would sit with Beijing; the Republic of China name would likely go.

President Xi Jinping has, since 2019, called for exploring a two-systems plan for Taiwan. Mainland media and scholars treated Li’s articles and a Fudan response as proof the conversation is moving from slogan to architecture. Global Times went further: the Han Kuang drills on the island are “psychological comfort,” not strength, and for Taiwan the reunification question is “not a choice, but one that must be answered.” Taiwan’s major parties have stayed largely silent on Li’s paper; media on the island both reposted and pushed back.

On the civic market the stakes are political capital, not a prediction market.
